McClure, Chukka Boot - Dark Oak | Goodyear Welted | Classics Collection

I received this pair of boots a day before traveling and ended up wearing them throughout my trip. The break-in period was extremely painful—I developed blisters and even some bleeding (it has been 3 weeks, and my feet are still recovering). I usually wear a UK9, but with these, the heel kept pushing against the back and causing discomfort. What stood out most was that the right shoe felt noticeably tighter than the left. This wasn’t just imagination—my right shoe developed far more creases, and my right foot suffered significantly more blisters and pain.

Additionally, the toe box felt uncomfortably tight. The forefoot area was under constant pressure, and the stiffening material inside the toe box dug into my toes, leading to additional injuries and blisters.

This is my second time being disappointed with BLKBRD. That said, I do appreciate the ethos of a small, homegrown brand, which is why I’d still consider giving the brand another chance (at a later stage)—provided they improve the inner cushioning, consistency in sizing, and address issues like the overly stiff toe box design. I’d also really like to understand why one shoe in this pair felt distinctly tighter, something I haven’t encountered with other brands.

Great fit and finish, this is my sixth pair of shoes from BLKBRD they’re professional and excellent quality for the money.

I absolutely love my pair from BLKBRD. The color was love at first sight, and the sizing matched my usual dress shoe size perfectly. My only critique is that the packaging could be improved, they should clearly label the box with the size and automatically include the extra insoles for potential fit adjustments, rather than waiting to be prompted. I had to follow up to get mine, which could’ve been avoided. That said, the shoes arrived within two weeks of placing my order, and I’m already looking forward to adding more to my collection soon!

Delivery was fast. Shoes are comfortable and well made. Leather is soft. There were some minor flaws regarding the finishing and color, but nothing to worry about. I would buy the boots again, and I will buy at BLKBRD again.

My first order with BLKBRD. They were careful and contacted me about my sizing. I supplied a foot trace and we decided upon my usual size. The fit is amazingly perfect for the first “test” order. I will be wearing the boots a couple of months longer to see how they settle in; maybe I need to go down half a size, we will see. It is difficult to wait, because I see so many other offerings that I am tempted to order the next right away. Delivery was about three weeks and the courier took care of the customs duty.
